Throwback To Some Of The Most Iconic 2018 MET Gala Looks That We Can't Get Over
The Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York. The gala which was formerly referred to as Costume Institute Benefit puts out themes for celebrities in fashion, film, music, and so on to come together to raise money for the institute, as well as to display their stylish outfits, or not.
From avant-garde outfits to brightly coloured designs and many more, celebrities brought their A-game to the Met Gala 2018. Here is a throwback to some of our favorite looks from the Met Gala 2018.
With the theme, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination", Rihanna, the singer and beauty and fashion mogul, went for a Catholic-inspired look as she wore a robe embellished with jewels and a matching papal tiara. Rihanna, over the years, has brought her unflinching style game to the red carpet, and it is no surprise that she killed this Met gala look as well.
"The theme affirms religious allegiances and by extension, it assets religious differences" - Andrew Bolton
Zendaya, considering the theme also, got her style inspiration from Saint Joan of Arc, who was a Roman Catholic saint. With her custom-made metallic dress from popular fashion designer Versace, which featured an armored neck and shoulder piece, a spiked belt, as well as a minimal train, Zendaya embodied this look.
Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther star, brought his "Wakanda" drip to the red carpet with an all-white outfit made by Versace. The outfit was adorned with a cape with religiously-inspired embellishments and gold shoes.
Another look that we couldn't help but notice was Katy Perry's outfit.
Katy Perry made a celestial statement with her pair of angelic wings, gold mini dress, and thigh-high gold boots. The look was in tune with the theme as it showcased the ethereal beauty of an angel. Although the look wasn't adorned with jewellery, the concept of the style hid that perfectly.
Blake Lively, the elegant actress, stunned at the red carpet with a spectacular ruby and gold designed dress. The dress which reportedly took 600 hours to make due to the intricate and extensive hand-embellishments that had to be done, blended to a large extent the theme of the gala.
These are some of the outfits from the Met Gala 2018 that we still can't get enough of! What were your favorite looks from the Met Gala 2018?
