Third Mainland Bridge Will Be Shutdown For 3 Days While Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Will Be Partially Closed For 2 Days

On Tuesday, December 22, the Lagos State government, through its Federal Controller of Works, Mr Olukayode Popoola, announced that it is shutting down the Third Mainland Bridge for 72 hours.

Here are the facts as we know it

  • As soon as it is 12:00 midnight on Christmas day (December 25), the bridge will be shut down and no one will be allowed access. This is in order to effectively cast the three number expansion joints on the island-bound lane.
  • The bridge will be reopened on the 28th of December as the concrete will have had enough time to set without having to deal with cars creating vibrations when they move on it.

Lagos-Ibadan expressway will be closed partially

You should also know that the Lagos-Ibadan expressway will be partially closed. The closure will occur at Kilometer 16, that is, around MFM because Julius Berger Nigeria Plc will be installing cross beams and one lane will be closed at a time.
