Here Are Some Of The Innovative Ways Nigerian Fashion Brands Are Designing Face Masks

May 28, 2020 | by bolu | 1 Comment

Fashion outfits worn by people are often inspired by the trends on the runway, the celebrities wearing them, or the availability of these outfits in online or walk-in stores.

Another thing that determines whether an outfit or accessories would be worn is the situation of the country, whether good or bad. So it's not surprising that face masks are now widely worn, both as a form of protection and as a fashion accessory.

The government of most countries, including Nigeria, asked their citizens to wear face masks to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Owing to the shortage of N95 face masks, which is the best, fashion brands have had to go into the productions of face masks.

We've seen a lot of face masks that have been designed to match the outfits of the customers, whether for casual or formal occasions. Here are some of the ones we love.

Formal Occasions

For formal occasions, whether a board meeting or a meeting with co-workers, an Ankara mask might not be appropriate, because most organizations do not allow their employees to wear wax prints, except on specified days. In such instances, plain face masks do the trick beautifully.

Nancy Isime sported a reversible facemask that has a respirator and adjustable ear loops from the EricaMoore Brand when she stepped out for a meeting.

Red Carpet Events

How about red carpet events, or classy events with a close set of people? Sporting a face mask adorned with embellishments and glitters, or a burst of colors would be the right face mask to wear.

Recently, Kim Oprah was spotted wearing a glittery dress with a thigh-high slit, adorned with her matching face mask from the 2207ByTBally fashion brand, to a classy event she attended.

Owambes

Weddings or birthday celebrations, popularly known as 'owambes' in this part of the world, are not left out of this face mask trend either. Whether designing a facemask made out of the Aso-Oke, or lace for the Aso-Ebi material, guests can also stand out in their matching face masks.

Casual Outings

For regular casual outings, face masks made with African wax prints are the most common to wear. Because they are simpler to sew, compared to face masks made with aso-oke, or embellished face masks, Ankara face masks are the ones fashion brands design the most.

They can be matched with a client's outfits for casual occasions while retaining the beauty of the outfit.

With face masks now becoming an important accessory, fashion brands need to ensure the efficiency of these masks when designing them, and before putting them out for the clients to purchase.
